Open Source Summit Europe 2026: Advancing Open Collaboration and Digital Sovereignty

From October 7-9, 2026, the Open Source Summit Europe in Prague brought together more than 2,000 participants from across the global open-source ecosystem. The event provided a valuable platform for developers, industry leaders, researchers, and technology experts to exchange knowledge and collaborate on topics including cloud-native technologies, AI, cybersecurity, digital trust, and software supply chains.

Highlight: Keynote on Digital Sovereignty Through Open Source

A major highlight for ApeiroRA was the keynote "Sovereignty Requires Real Choice". The presentation emphasized the importance of open standards, interoperability, and community-driven innovation for achieving digital sovereignty. Using projects such as Gardener, OCM, Platform Mesh, and Open Control Plane, the keynote demonstrated how open-source technologies can enable resilient and sovereign cloud infrastructures. The message strongly resonated with the objectives of both ApeiroRA and NeoNephos and sparked numerous discussions throughout the conference.

Engaging the Community at the NeoNephos Booth

During the conference, the NeoNephos booth served as a central point for community engagement. Experts from ApeiroRA presented live demonstrations, discussed technical topics, and engaged with visitors interested in open-source cloud technologies, interoperability, and collaborative innovation.

Building Partnerships and Expanding Visibility

Beyond the exhibition space, the ApeiroRA team actively participated in community events, technical sessions, and strategic meetings with representatives from the Cloud Native Computing Foundation (CNCF), Linux Foundation Europe, and other ecosystem partners. These interactions helped strengthen existing relationships, identify future collaboration opportunities, and increase awareness of ApeiroRA's contributions within the broader open-source landscape.

Looking Ahead

Overall, participation in the summit significantly increased the visibility of ApeiroRA and its contributions to the European open-source landscape. The event generated valuable feedback, strengthened existing partnerships, and created new opportunities for collaboration, confirming growing interest in open, interoperable, and cloud-native technologies. The insights gained will help shape future technical priorities, outreach activities, and community engagement efforts, supporting the long-term growth and impact of the ApeiroRA project.
