SAP’s contribution to IPCEI-CIS

Apeiro Reference Architecture

SAP develops ApeiroRA to help strengthen Europe’s digital sovereignty by providing key technology components for a common cloud-to-edge infrastructure. Together with other IPCEI-CIS participants, SAP is laying the foundation for cloud technologies that are provider-independent and rooted in European values, securing Europe’s long-term competitiveness in the digital economy.

Our mission

ApeiroRA is the Apeiro Reference Architecture

The project aims to develop a reference blueprint for an open, flexible, powerful, secure, and compliant next generation cloud-edge continuum. The reference will be made available in true open source as a straightaway usable construction kit that provides blueprints and re-usable components for central building blocks. It forms the centerpiece proposal for all EU participants to align on joint interoperability standards. ApeiroRA therefore will provide a strong fundament for conformance, future software development, compatible deployments, and usage of interoperable cloud services reinforcing the common target of a cloud-edge continuum in Europe.

Yes, Apeiro Reference Architecture is created open!

ApeiroRA’s development mode is not the Cathedral, but is characterized by decentralized collaboration, open transparency, and rapid iteration in open source. Projects developed in ApeiroRA are made available under enterprise friendly open-source licenses and standards, and where appropriate, the projects are planned to be moved under neutral community governance. All projects aim to contribute and collaborate with other accepted and defining open-source projects, for example from the Linux Foundation, Cloud Native Computing Foundation, Eclipse Foundation or Apache Software Foundation, which together form a de-facto (EU-wide) digital commons.

ApeiroRA produces digital sovereignty at scale by offering a common baseline of well-accepted open standards without boiling the ocean or re-inventing the wheel. The ApeiroRa project is investing and providing the first step. You can shape the next step with us!
